Montreal BBQ Rub - classic grill seasoning from Widowmakers BBQ
Montreal BBQ Rub is Widowmakers BBQ's version of the classic Montreal seasoning. The base is black pepper and garlic, complemented by chili flakes, dill, rosemary, and thyme. Together, they create a deep, peppery, and herbaceous profile that is particularly well-suited for beef and pork. The seasoning creates a powerful bark when grilling and smoking and works equally well on brisket and steaks as on pork collar and chops.
Montreal BBQ Rub is also an excellent seasoning for game such as moose and deer, where its robust flavor complements the meat's character. If you want to elevate your side dishes, it works wonderfully on oven-roasted potatoes, French fries, and root vegetables.
How to use Montreal BBQ Rub
As a rub, apply a generous layer over the meat and massage in thoroughly. You can wrap it in foil and let it sit for at least an hour, or overnight in the refrigerator, before grilling or smoking. The coarsely ground spices build up a bark with serious flavor and texture.
