🌺 Mai Tai – exotic tiki cocktail with rum and lime

The Mai Tai is a classic in tiki culture that combines rum, lime, curaçao and orgeat (almond syrup). The result is a fresh and fruity drink with a tropical feel, a trip to Hawaii in a glass.


Ingredients

  • 4 cl light rum
  • 2 cl dark rum (float on top)
  • 2 cl freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 1.5 cl orange curaçao
  • 1.5 cl orgeat (almond syrup)
  • Ice (preferably crushed)
  • Mint sprig and lime wheel for garnish

Approach

  1. Pour light rum, lime juice, curaçao and orgeat into a shaker with ice.
  2. Shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds.
  3. Strain into a lowball glass filled with crushed ice.
  4. Float dark rum over the top using a spoon.
  5. Garnish with mint and lime.
