🌺 Mai Tai – exotic tiki cocktail with rum and lime
The Mai Tai is a classic in tiki culture that combines rum, lime, curaçao and orgeat (almond syrup). The result is a fresh and fruity drink with a tropical feel, a trip to Hawaii in a glass.
Ingredients
- 4 cl light rum
- 2 cl dark rum (float on top)
- 2 cl freshly squeezed lime juice
- 1.5 cl orange curaçao
- 1.5 cl orgeat (almond syrup)
- Ice (preferably crushed)
- Mint sprig and lime wheel for garnish
Approach
- Pour light rum, lime juice, curaçao and orgeat into a shaker with ice.
- Shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds.
- Strain into a lowball glass filled with crushed ice.
- Float dark rum over the top using a spoon.
- Garnish with mint and lime.
